Delft is an island in the northern Sri Lanka, surrounded by shallow waters and beaches of coral chunks and sand. The island's area is 50 kmĀ² and it is roughly oval-shaped. Its length is 8 km and its maximum width about 6 km. It is home to a small population of Tamil people, mostly living in quiet compounds close to the northern coast. The population is approximately 2500 and the Island is accessible to civilians only through a sea voyage. The Government operates a passenger boat service free of charge from Kurikadduwan Jetty. One at 8 am and another at 9 am. The return boat from Delft Island departs at 14:30 pm to Kurikadduwan jetty. Sometimes the boat times change. The journey by sea takes exactly 1 hour under mild sea and weather conditions.

You will be able to explore the island with your knowledgeable local guide, Transpport will be on foot and tuk tuk. Expect an adventure from the moment you arrive to the moment you depart by the boat from the jetty in the evening.

Wild horses which the Dutch used to cart water to the Fort and left free to roam on their departure, Dutch Fort, Queens Tower - an old light house, Pigeon house for carrier pigeons used by colonial powers, The growing stone, Giant footprint, Baobab Tree - the oldest of its kind in Sri Lanka, Ruins believed to be an ancient temple, Swimming beach etc.
