Birding in Colombo’s urban Wetlands.

Originally a marshy wasteland land located in an urbanized area within close proximity to the parliament this area has been repurposed to create an urban oasis for many species from birds, butterflies and dragon flies to reptiles.

Just a short drive away from your hotel in Colombo, this sanctuary has a small butterfly garden with over 25 species of butterflies fluttering about. The walk ways will take you through shrubbery and indigenous trees, over water ways as birds dart in and out of the water catching fish and past night cameras that record the movements of the nocturnal urban fishing cat. It has something for everyone from children to the serious birdwatchers.
