Arrive and transfer to Trincomalee (by domestic flight)
Arrive in Sri Lanka and take a domestic flight to the east coast town of Trincomalee. Trinco is one of the words best natural harbors and it has played a major role in both Sri Lankan history as well as World War 2. Trinco is famous for it’s many beaches of which the most popular are Nilaveli and Marble Beach. Transfer a short distance from the domestic airport to your beach resort.
Whale Watching
The waters off Trinco are ideal for whale watching as many species of whales including the blue whales are seen in this area. Head out to sea with your naturalist and explore the Indian Ocean. Return to your hotel for some down time. Head out in the evening to explore Trincomalee and its surroundings. This evening explore the many cultural sites of Trinco from the Dutch fort to Hindu temples, natural clear spring wells with varying temperatures of bubbling water, and forgotten Buddhist temples.
Snorkeling at Pigeon Island National Park
This morning take a boat ride to the Pigeon Island National Park just off the coast of Nilaveli, where you can spend the morning snorkeling exploring the amazing underwater landscape and marine life. Return to the hotel and spend the day at leisure.
Trincomalee to Passikudah
After Breakfast transfer south to Batticaloa, Passikudah. This coastal town is renowned for its crystal-clear beaches which are protected by reefs which allow safe swimming. There are plenty of opportunities for relaxing and soaking up the sun.
Leisure at the Beach
Spend the day at leisure relaxing by the pool and swimming in the ocean. There is a selection of optional activities available such as snorkeling, watersports and local experiences as well.

Passikudah to Arugam Bay
After breakfast transfer further south to Arugam Bay. A secluded coastal town with pristine beaches and excellent surf spots.

Whilst you have the option of relaxing by the beach, there are many activities available as well. For starters, if you are an experienced surfer there are many surfboard rentals where you can hire a board for the day and enjoy the waves. If you are on the lookout for lessons, there are many good surf schools to choose from. There are many nature walks and local experiences available as well. You could rent a bike for the day and do further exploring.
Kumana Bird Sanctuary
If you are interested in wildlife you can visit either the Kumana wildlife sanctuary or the Lahugala sanctuary. Both these parks are rich in wildlife and offer a very relaxed wildlife experience away from the crowds.
Departure - Arugam Bay to Colombo
After breakfast transfer to Colombo for your return flight or extend your holiday to explore the Hill country famous for the islands most popular produce, Ceylon Tea!
